Biography

Many years ago my grandfather cut a hickory stave and told me to let it cure for six months after which I could whittle out a longbow similar to those I had seen. Six months later I diligently carved for three weeks with both a pocket knife and kitchen knife. To my surprise, my longbow performed quite well. I was twelve years old. Thus began my profound love for archery and my 50 years of involvement in the sport.
In the late 1950's I began shooting competitively and I haven't stopped! I enjoy archery as much today as I did when I first started. I may not shoot as well as I did when I was younger, but I still love to compete. I have enjoyed success at the state and national levels winning both indoor and outdoor titles. Currently I am a Level 4 NAA National coach and spend a lot of my time coaching archers across the United States, several of whom have been on U.S. national, international and Olympic teams.
